Carbohydrates are energy giving foods. There are two types of carbohydrates- simple and complex.
Sugary food usually comes under simple carbohydrates. E.g.- fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose and juice concentrate. As they digest easily, they give instant energy.
Most starchy food comes under complex carbohydrates. wheat, bread, rice, maize are a few examples. These take longer to digest.

Proteins literally do everything in the body.
From repair, growth and replacement of cells, transportation of chemicals to producing antibodies, proteins do it all
(almost). Some protein rich foods are meat, fish, poultry, eggs, groundnuts, milk, soy beans etc. They are known as body building foods.
Excess of everything is bad. One should not take protein in excessive quantities as it can cause stones in some organs.

Fats, like carbs are energy giving foods. Some fats also collect in the corner of sensitive organs ( eyes, kidney) and act as shock absorbers. They also provide us warmth. E.g.- Butter, Nuts, Oil.
But, remember, eating too much of fats increases the cholesterol in the blood, blocking the arteries and risking heart problems. It can also lead to obesity.
